Latest news from the Zizamele Ceramics studio

Zizamele recently took part in the NEXT19 Exhibition at the V&A Waterfront.

The NEXT19 Trade Exhibition is part of the ´Development by Design´ programme, which enables small and medium businesses in South Africa to develop and grow, taking their design studio, or manufacturing company to the ‘next level’, and onwards to the export market.

Zizamele exhibited some brand new products –  our huge handmade vases with African Wax Fabric themes!  The exhibition saw 40 leading South African designers presenting their new product ranges of small furniture, lighting, home textiles, and fashion and home accessories at the Scheryn Pavilion from 28th Feb – 3rd March 2019.

The project is an initiative of The Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), and their local partner, the Craft and Design Institute (CDI).

Toni was honoured to receive an achievement award from her beloved old school St Annes, Hilton, KZN last month and enjoyed revisiting her school to share the Zizamele story with new pupils and teachers alike.

The pupils had some wonderful questions and the most interesting questions were rewarded with some of our popular Zizamele products.

Toni gifted the school with a 6lady Ubuntu Bowl in “St Anne’s” blue which has already become a talking point in reception where it is displayed.

The school has since ordered the 1lady Sweetie Dishes in “chun blue” as gifts for their board members.

Sydney Gift Fair
23-27 February 2019

Held in the fabulous Olympic Park near Paramatta, The Sydney Gift Fair was a huge success for Zizamele.

Buyers were delighted to discover our handmade and unique ceramics as they seldom find anything similar “down under.”  They placed numerous orders and we had a few enquiries to distribute our range in Australia.

Watch this space as we hope to attend the Melbourne Gift Fair in August this year which is their “sister show”. Thanks to all the super friendly shoppers, buyers and show officials for making us feel so welcome!
