12Lady Ceramic Bowl: Metallic on Charcoal

(1 customer review)

The signature product of Zizamele Ceramics, this is the African version of the friendship bowl. 12 African lady figures hold hands around the rim of the hand-thrown charcoal clay bowl. They wear their African headscarves and carry their babies tied to their backs in traditional fashion. The geometric African patterns are hand-painted using white and metallic glazes.

UMUNTU ngumuntu ngabantu

It is a complex Nguni word that means “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity.

I am what I am because of who we all are.”

In Africa, the definition of an individual is community-based and not individualist. The Ubuntu bowls with their women holding hands in a spirit of Ubuntu, represent this philosophy.

Discovered these beautiful ceramics 3 years ago while vacationing in Capetown SA. Recently needed to send a gift to friends in Joburg and remembered these whimsical ceramics. I contacted Toni at Zizamele and she could not have been more helpful. With her assistance a note was included and it was boxed, packaged and sent.

Arrived this week safe and secure the recipients of this gift commented on how well it was packaged. My friends loved the piece .

If you’re looking for a unique item I suggest a piece from Zizamele Ceramics. Go online and view the many pieces. Don’t hestitate to ship as they know what they are doing.
