The African version of the friendship bowl, this iconic product comes in sizes ranging from tiny to enormous and they are available in a variety of glaze finishes. The Ubuntu Bowl depicts a circle of women holding hands around the rim of the pottery bowl in a spirit of unity. They wear their traditional headscarves and have their babies tied to their backs in typical African fashion.
These bowls are wheel thrown from stoneware clay with skill and care. The Zizamele artists then create hand-modelled African women figures in clay, which they attach painstakingly to the rim of the bowl. After the bowls are fired in electric kilns, they are painted in Africa's vibrant patterns and colours in a variety of stunning glazes.
Every bowl created is unique and the repeat patterns and designs painted onto this bowl make it a once-off artistic creation. Every bowl is signed and dated, making it a collectable piece.
