12Lady Ubuntu Bowl Indigo

The 12Lady Ubuntu Bowl features a circle of 12 women holding hands around the rim of the pottery bowl in a spirit of unity. They wear their traditional headscarves and have their babies tied to their backs in typical African fashion.

The indigo designs are reminiscent of the blue Shweshwe patterns so beloved by all South Africans. 

Every bowl created is unique and the repeat patterns and designs painted onto this bowl make it a once-off artistic creation.  Every bowl is signed and dated, making it a collectable piece. 

In Africa, the definition of an individual is community-based and not individualist. The Ubuntu bowls with their women holding hands in a spirit of Ubuntu, represent this philosophy.
